Visco uses two typefaces: Lexend for almost everything, and Merriweather for long texts.

Lexend

Lexend is the standard typeface for all Visco communication. It is a calm, modern typeface designed to be easy to read.

Lexend

Primary typeface

Serve to be served

Lexend Bold
Headings
Lexend SemiBold
Subheadings
Lexend Regular
Body text
Lexend Light
Body text, in a more open layout

Line height 120 to 140%. Keep enough white space around blocks of text and use a clear hierarchy: title, subtitle, body.

Why Lexend

  • It reduces reading fatigue.
  • It works in print and on screen.
  • It helps people with dyslexia or lower reading skills.

Merriweather

Merriweather supports Lexend in long texts, such as reports, articles, interviews and explanatory pieces.

Merriweather

Secondary typeface

Serve to be served

Merriweather Regular
Running text in reports and articles
Merriweather Bold
Emphasis and subheadings within long texts
Merriweather Light Italic
Captions and asides

Line height 120 to 140%. Merriweather reads heavier than Lexend, so give it more white space.

Why Merriweather

  • It is a classic, warm typeface.
  • It stays easy to read in long texts.
  • It differs enough from Lexend to make the structure of a text clear.

Use Merriweather only for long texts, and always together with Lexend for the headings and short texts.

Licence

Both typefaces are under the SIL Open Font License. You are free to use them and to ship them with work you make for Visco, including commercially. The licence texts are in the brand kit, and also below as separate files.
